About Us

We are a vertical farm business based in West Limerick.

Owned and operated by brothers PJ and Tommy Bourke, we aim to supply top quality, pesticide free produce throughout Munster and beyond.

What is vertical farming?

Vertical farming is a process where crops are grown on top of each other, often in shelves, rather than in rows on the ground.

Growing vertically uses less space, resulting in a higher crop yield per square meter than traditional farming.

Vertical farms are mainly located indoors, where the ability to control environmental creates optimal conditions for plants to succeed. Vertical farms often grow hydroponically, aeroponically, or even aquaponically without soil.

What method do we use?

We grow hydroponically, which is a system where plants grow in layers with through water under lights. The plants are fed through nutrient rich water and light is provided by specially designed LED grow lights.

This technology has been tried and tested in many countries.

Benefits of vertical farming:

  • Consistent year-round production
  • Efficient use of space
  • Reduced pesticide use
  • Water conservation
  • Reduction of food imports
